The arrival of a new child is a time of immense joy and thankfulness. At Prince's Drive Baptist Church, we love to share in this celebration with you and your family through a special Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication.

This meaningful service is an opportunity for parents and carers to publicly express their gratitude to God for the precious gift of their child. It is a time to seek God’s blessing for your little one's future and to ask for His wisdom and guidance as you navigate the wonderful journey of parenthood.

A Commitment of Love and Faith

As Baptists, we believe that baptism is a personal choice made by someone who is old enough to understand and profess their own faith. Because a baby cannot yet make this decision, we offer a dedication service instead.

The focus of the service is on the parents' commitment to raise their child in a loving, nurturing environment. We will pray with you and for you, and our church family will joyfully commit to supporting you. It is our hope that when your child is older, they will choose to be baptised and follow Christ for themselves.

Our Services of Thanksgiving and Dedication are joyful occasions, integrated into our main 10:30 am Sunday morning worship and surrounded by the warmth and support of our church family.

When do dedication services take place?

Dedications are held during our regular Sunday morning worship, which begins at 10:30 am. Being part of the main service allows our whole church family to welcome your child and support you.

Is there a charge for a dedication service?

No, there is no fee. We are simply delighted to celebrate with you. All we ask is that you invite your family and friends to share in this special day.

Do we need to be members or regular attenders of the church?

You do not need to be a church member. We do find, however, that the service is even more meaningful if you have had a chance to visit us a few times beforehand. We would love to see you – a warm welcome is guaranteed!

Can we have Godparents?

Yes, absolutely. You can choose ‘Supporting Friends’ or ‘Godparents’ who will promise to encourage and support you and your child. Their role is to be a positive influence in your child's life as they grow.
